The project began in early 2010 when Maine Audubon contacted the Road Ecology Center and asked the Center to construct a reporting system for live and dead (roadkill) wildlife observations. The system went live in Spring 2010 and has been collecting current observations ever since. By clicking on the “Wildlife Observations” tab, you can see the observations sorted by date (“Observation Date” column). Accurate recording of dates and times for wildlife observations helps to reduce the chance of duplicate observations (e.g., two people recording the same roadkill). Over the years and decades, it will also help with understanding trends of wildlife occurrences and movement.
